Come collaborate with Marianne and Hendrick, Founders of the Bhutan Animal Rescue Clinic. This Animaltarian program in the Himalayas shares the concepts of the Kingdom's form of vajrayana Buddhism. Learn how Gross National Happiness and compassion in action for all sentient beings goes hand in hand with modern-day Bhutan.
Be prepared for hands-on field work and animal rescue combined with cultural immersions, authentic local cuisine, spiritual ceremonies, and hosted access at the most magical animal sanctuary in the Kingdom - The Bhutan Animal Rescue Center & Nature Preserve.
After your spetacular descent through the Paro Valley, day 1 in Bhutan brings us to the Paro Animal Center were we will drop off supplies and orientate to the animals of Bhutan.
The Paro Animal Center specialized in larger animals as horses, mules, and cows. Prosthetics are provided to patients who have lost limbs.
The afternoon commences with your orientation with Marianne and her husband Hendrik outside of Thimphu at the Bhutan Animal Rescue Center. Bhutan Animal Rescue Center strives to alleviate suffering of animals and to promote Gross Animal Happiness.
We see the happiness of animals and the protection of nature as a whole as an important value in society and as a critical contributor to social harmony and also Human happiness.

Currently with 31 macaque monkeys, you’ll help the monkeys re-integration by upgrading the furnishings and preparing ‘toys’ for the monkeys so they can stay busy during the day.
A little TLC goes a long way with human to macaque brushing of the patients.
The work you’ll do on a daily basis is a practical ‘compassion-in-action’ approach to Bhutan’s GNH, where we help and provide sanctuary to those animals in need.
